AMATEUR GOLF TOUR OF NEW ENGLAND

"Tournament Golf for Golfers of all abilities"

PACE OF PLAY POLICY & LOCAL RULE

1. Each group will be responsible to write in the time they start (first shot hit off the 1st tee), and the time they finish (last putt holed on the 18th hole played).

2. Each group is required to complete their round in 5 hours or less (to be reduced to 4:45 minutes in the future). If the pace of play of the non-BAGS group in front of the first group out is such that the first group out is unable to complete their round within the 5 hour time frame, their actual time will be the standard for subsequent groups.

3. Groups not submitting their start and end time accurately on at least one competitor's scorecard will be subject to penalties (see below).

4. Groups subsequent to the first group will be required to complete their round in an elapsed time within the 5 hour limit or within 10 minutes of the time recorded by the group in front of them. In shotgun starts, all groups must complete their round either within the 5 hour time frame, or within 15 minutes of the fastest group to finish, if that time is over 5 hours.

Penalties:

1. Penalties will be assessed to each member of the offending group (s).

2. The first and second instances in a season will result in slow play warnings

3. The third instance in a season will result in a one stroke slow play penalty

4. Fourth and subsequent instances in a season will result in a two stroke slow play penalty.

5. Penalties strokes will be added to the posted gross score and deducted from the posted stableford point score. Penalties will effect sweep side bets, but will not effect skins and zero's side bets.

6. Slow play penalties will be posted as part of the tournament results.

7. If there is a dispute or extenuating circumstance, penalties will be decided by the on-site BAGS official.

Policies to speed play:

1. Local rule (see below) on all lost balls & out of bounds will be in effect at all tournaments

2. Time allowed to search for balls is limited to 3 minutes.

3. Players are required to pick up if they have not holed out before the greater of net bogey or handicap (ESC) allowable gross score (except those that have a reasonable chance to win a gross score prize.).

4. All players are expected to play “ready golf” and are expected to be ready to play when it is their turn to hit.

Local Rule for lost balls and Out of Bounds:

To speed play, this rule prohibits players from returning to their prior shot to rehit.

1. This local rule only effects balls either lost NOT in a lateral or water hazard and all balls hit out of bounds. Balls hit in a lateral hazard (Red stakes or lines) or water hazard (yellow stakes or lines) are to be played according to the rules of golf, with the exception that going back to rehit the prior shot is not permitted. A provisional may be played prior to leaving the point where the original ball was hit. If the provisional ball is used to play out the hole, the penalty is, in effect,  “stroke and distance”.

2. Optionally, the player is allowed to drop a ball (under the penalty of two strokes) in the fairway of the hole being played at the closest point (within two club lengths and not nearer the hole) from the point that the ball is deemed to have been lost or crossed into an out of bounds area.

3. If the original ball is found during the initial search (not in a hazard, and not out of bounds), it must be played under the normal rules of golf.
